Nature Walk: Nature/Fire Ecology Walk at Watershed Conservation Authority's Mount Baldy Wilderness Preserve
Monday, December 2, 2024, 1-2:30 pm
What are some of the plants that give Mount Baldy Wilderness Preserve its characteristic sense of place, and how do these natural resources impact and become impacted by wildfire?
Rachel Wing of California Botanic Garden will point out notable, characteristic, (and even infamous) plants or habitats seen in Mount Baldy Wilderness Preserve. This walk and talk aims to foster interest and appreciation, while considering the fire effects and adaptations of each and potential changes through time as wildfire and wildfire prevention increasingly impact areas such as MBWP within the Wildland-Urban Interface.
We will be walking approximately 3/4 miles on a gently sloping road with some sections of uneven ground. Sturdy athletic footwear are required. Walking stick or trekking poles might be useful for uneven ground.
