GREEN Project

Connecting Communities through Nature

The Green Regional Environmental Enhancement Network (GREEN) Project is a planning and project implementation initiative supporting watershed-based greening efforts to advance collaboration in the wider Los Angeles and Orange County area. The scope of the project includes regional data collection and assessments, identification of priority projects, and community engagement strategies culminating in the launch of an online GREEN Project portal to share data and information, and to catalyze investments and positive change. The Project is currently funded by a Proposition 84 Grant from the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy, and this phase of development is expected to be in ongoing development through December 2019 with a soft launch in December 2017.

The GREEN Project will realize projects and programs to enhance, expand, and increase access to functioning parks, trails, and open spaces for:

      • Water Reliability
      • Climate Resilience
      • Clean Air
      • Habitat Integrity
      • Active Transportation
      • Public Health and Recreation
      • Community Equity and Wellbeing

The online portal is organized as a common platform to inventory existing, planned, and proposed green infrastructure. The format is envisioned to host comprehensive links to existing and planned projects, datasets and digital tools relevant to project planning, project inventories, green infrastructure examples, and funding sources.
