This experienced full-time position shall be engaged in park and open space development and watershed planning. The successful candidate will provide project management, design, and regional planning activities for the Authority’s diverse portfolio of projects.
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Officer, the Project Manager (Associate through PM III level) leads the planning, development, and maintenance of a wide variety of watershed conservation, recreation, and trail projects. Work requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Tasks typically require knowledge of natural resource and recreation management, current and long range environmental and active transportation planning, conservation transactions, environmental policy administration, including but not limited to, compliance with the Californian Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act), stakeholder outreach, partnership coordination, and grant writing and management. Duties include managing budgets and schedules, report preparation and presentation, negotiating agreements with government agencies and others, and managing consultant contracts.
Distinguishing features between classification levels include project management duties of entry level to high complexity and variety. Some functions are similar across all Project Manager job classifications and are distinguished primarily by complexity of assignments, level of required oversight, level of independence and self-management, knowledge, experience and related considerations. The higher-level classifications may involve lead-worker responsibility over assigned staff, providing supervision and serving as a member of the WCA management team. Dependent on classification and salary level, the work performance may be classified as an exempt position and will be reviewed based on results obtained.
